Teaching and learning with VisuoLab For supervisors Assessment involves preparing criteria, following responses and offering feedback. Configure the activity for its learning objective and check when participants can view the assessment. This page starts with setup, then covers follow-up, reports and result release.

Understand scales, criteria and weights

These examples clarify the settings. Choose criteria, scales and weights according to your teaching proposal.

Configure activity assessment

After preparing questions, open Evaluation Settings. Depending on the screen, you can also access them through the activity’s Settings.

Screenshots show Production activity setup. Options may vary by activity type and installation. Instructions use English field names.

Select the scale

Choose Scale to define how performance is recorded.

Select the scale

Options can include Default, Competent, Productivity, Self-evaluation (comprehension), Fluency, and team-created scales. All criteria use the same selected scale. Check that its levels suit every aspect you intend to assess.

Register criteria and distribute their weights

Under Criteria Set-up, enter each criterion’s Name. Use Add criteria for further aspects. Choose clear names tied to the objective so participants understand what is observed.

Enable Start date and Close date to set the availability period. Dates define the activity window; completion time defines duration. The response summary is also different from grade and answer-key release.

Review and finish

Check that the scale suits the criteria, names are clear, criteria weights and question weights each total 100%, and grade, attempts, time and dates are consistent. Confirm review options match your intended release. Select Done.

Prepare reusable scales

Under Scales, select Add new scale, enter a title and define levels. Then select it in relevant activities. Scales are reusable. Examples include Default (0%–100%), Competent, Productivity, Self-evaluation (comprehension) and Fluency. Check the registered levels before using one in a new task.

Set activity contributions in the Space

In Activity overview, define each activity’s weight and whether it counts towards the final grade. Activities marked training only do not generate a grade. This is different from the criteria and question weights within an activity.

Follow responses and offer feedback

Offer text or video feedback according to settings. Connect it to the criteria, recognizing what participants demonstrate and what they can develop.

Organize peer assessment

Under Assessment partner, choose a participant to assess a colleague in the same Space. Select written/video feedback without a grade or criteria-based assessment with a grade. Peer assessments appear in the corresponding report view and complement learning. The Supervisor remains responsible for the main assessment.

Consult reports

Use these views to follow individuals and the class as a whole.

Release results

With Manual Release, participants cannot see grades or the answer key until release. After checking assessment, open this option and choose Individual release or Release to all. See also: Create assessment activities and View results and feedback.
