For supervisors Create comprehension activities with questions and alternatives in different formats. Prepare the prompt, add answer options and indicate which are correct to guide automatic marking. You can also include feedback and self-assessment questions. This format can support identifying a video’s main idea, understanding a sign language narrative or recognizing information in a communicative situation.
Reception is the activity type; Multiple Choice is the selected format. Instructions use English control names. Options may vary by installation, and screenshots retain the language of the illustrated interface.

Plan the activity

Start with what you want to observe in participants’ understanding. Choose materials suited to the audience and language being studied, and write questions that can be answered using those materials. An example plan: This example supports planning; it is not mandatory platform content.

Create the activity and prepare questions

Start setup in the Space

Enter the Space where the activity will take place and open Assessment activities. Select Add activity.
Access to the Assessment activities tab inside a Space.

A step shared by assessment activities: open the Space’s assessment tab.

Review the options displayed before continuing:Activity participation options, including pause, video right-click control and status.
  • Pause activity: the example allows one pause, stopping the timer and blocking actions while paused.
  • Block right-click on videos: controls access to player options through that click.
  • Status: indicates whether the activity is active or inactive.
Check the controls available in your installation and adjust them to the task before continuing.

Open the summary and add a question

Select Questions Summary. Check the Reception and Multiple Choice labels.Questions Summary with Reception and Multiple Choice identified. The Introduction video is optional and appears before the questions. Use it to contextualize the whole activity. It differs from the instruction video and a specific question’s video.Optional introduction video upload and recording fields.Under Activity questions, select Add Question. Do not confuse this with the self-assessment question button in a separate section.Activity questions section with the Add Question button.

Prepare the prompt and content

Enter a clear question or instruction in Question Title. Then use the available blocks:Question title and controls for adding topic, text, video and image content.Combine formats according to the objective, keeping the relationship between the material and question clear. For video, upload or record according to the available options. Check Display video only once: enable it only when that restriction is part of the task and explain it in the instructions.

Add alternatives and set the correct answers

Under Answers, register the alternatives. The example shows cards with optional text, video content, a Correct Answer checkbox and a percentage field.Multiple choice answer card with optional text, video, correct-answer checkbox and percentage. The form offers Evenly distribute and Manual distribution for answer scoring. With manual distribution, review the percentages shown for each alternative.Examples show that more than one alternative can be marked correct. Review the whole answer key and explain whether participants should select one or more answers.Avoid ambiguous options or unintended clues. For video answers, also check image quality and clarity of signing.
Mockup percentages are example entries. They do not demonstrate the full calculation rule for partially correct answers or incorrect selections. Check your installation’s behavior before explaining the rule to the class.

Add feedback to the question

Use Add feedback to prepare a response. The illustrated form offers media selection, recording and an optional text field.Question feedback area with media, recording and optional text controls.Use feedback to explain the content and support learning, beyond simply reporting correctness. For example:“Look at the passage where the character explains why they needed to change their plans. Review that passage and compare it with the alternatives.”The example’s feedback block refers to the question as a whole. Do not treat it as individual feedback written after completion or assume it is specific to each alternative. After reviewing the prompt, media, alternatives and answer key, select Done to return to the summary. Repeat to add further questions.
Video size limits may differ by field. Prompt and answer examples show 100 MB, while instructions, introduction and self-assessment show 250 MB. Always check the limit displayed in the field you are using.

Distinguish alternatives, questions and scales

These settings have different roles. Assessment settings illustrating the distinction between scale and question weighting. Changing an alternative’s percentage is different from setting a question’s weight or creating a scale. Example of question weight distribution.

Configure assessment

From the summary, open Evaluation Settings. Check the fields available for the activity. Assessment configuration fields available for the activity.

Scoring and attempts

Mockup values are not universal recommendations. Set them according to your teaching proposal. The illustrated menu distinguishes ordered navigation, without freely choosing between questions, from unordered navigation, which allows that movement. There are also randomized presentation options. Read the selected option’s description. Question order, answer order and duration settings. When choosing what happens at expiry, check whether the attempt is submitted automatically, can be submitted without further answers, or must be submitted before the limit to count.

Review and availability

The date window differs from an attempt’s duration. The answered-question summary is also different from grade and answer-key release. Review, final summary and activity availability settings. If additional criteria appear, check their purpose and relevance to the task. Additional assessment criteria configuration. They do not replace marking the correct answers in multiple choice questions.
Automatic marking and result release are different stages. Marking uses the registered answer key; participant visibility follows the review options. With manual release, results must be released at the appropriate time.

Include self-assessment questions if desired

Choose the self-assessment scale, write the question and, when appropriate, add a video in the corresponding sign language. Finish editing with Done. A possible question is: “How do you assess your understanding of references to characters in the narrative?” These questions invite participants to reflect on their learning. They differ from questions with alternatives and an answer key used for automatic marking. Do not assume they contribute to the main grade in the same way.
