# Create true or false activities

> Prepare statements, set the True/False answer key, and configure scoring, feedback and self-assessment.

**For supervisors**

In **True or false** activities, participants analyse statements and indicate whether they match the material presented. You prepare the prompt, register statements and define each one’s answer key for **automatic marking**.

The task can support understanding sign language narratives, identifying information and comparing the material with what each statement claims. Statements may be written or presented in video, depending on the available fields.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Reception** is the activity type; **True/False** is the selected format. Instructions use English control names. Options may vary by installation; screenshots retain the language of the illustrated interface.

## Plan what you want to assess

Choose material suited to the class and write statements whose correct classification can be determined from it. Prefer **one idea per statement** and avoid ambiguity, double negatives or information requiring knowledge not provided.

For example, imagine a video in which someone explains that they missed the bus and walked to university. The task could include:

> **True statement**
>
> **“The person walked to university.”**
>
> Supervisor’s answer key: **True**.

> **False statement**
>
> **“The person arrived at university by bus.”**
>
> Supervisor’s answer key: **False**.

These cards are teaching examples, not platform screens. The correct classification depends on the actual content of your material.

**Selecting False does not leave the item without a correct answer.** It registers False as the expected classification for that statement.

## Create the activity

**1. Start in the Space and choose the format**

Enter the relevant **Space**, open **Assessment activities** and select **Add activity**.

![Access to the Assessment activities tab inside a Space.](https://mintcdn.com/levante-lab/BKT18E3E1kfHe4uN/images/supervisor-assessment/194432.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=BKT18E3E1kfHe4uN\&q=85\&s=cc114ed7e9e89ce812aace13428a475b)

Check the selected Space and select **Continue**. In the type selection:

1. Open **Assessment Activities**.
2. Select **Reception**.
3. Choose **True/False**.
4. Check the selection and select **Continue**.

**2. Name the activity and explain the task**

![True or false activity description and instruction fields.](https://mintcdn.com/levante-lab/5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR/images/image-34.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR\&q=85\&s=037f133ba1548e570ea1b4d3562206ed)

Under **Description**, complete:

| Field | How to prepare it |
| - | - |
| **Name of the activity** | Use an identifiable title, such as “Narrative comprehension: getting to university”. |
| **Instructions** | Explain which material to observe and how to classify statements. This field is optional in the examples. |
| **Instruction video** | Upload or record guidance in the appropriate sign language using **Upload** or **Record**. |
| **Status** | Check whether the activity should be active or inactive. |

A possible instruction is: **“Observe the material for each question. Then classify each statement as true or false according to the information presented.”**

![Activity participation options, including pause and video right-click control.](https://mintcdn.com/levante-lab/5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR/images/image-35.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR\&q=85\&s=f25a1982236261abe5f45e8db5513e83)

Where the form shows **Pause activity** and **Block right-click on videos**, review these options for the task. The illustrated pause stops the timer and blocks actions while in use.

**3. Open the question summary**

Select **Questions Summary**. Check the **Reception** and **True/False** labels at the top of the form.

![True or false question summary with introduction and question controls.](https://mintcdn.com/levante-lab/5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR/images/image-36.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR\&q=85\&s=0655cbf99944406fce8634b10cbf9fb6)

The **Introduction video** is optional and appears **before the questions**. Use it to contextualize the set of questions.

It has a different role from the instruction video and from question prompt or statement videos.

Under **Activity questions**, select **Add Question**. The button in **Self-assessment** belongs to a separate set of questions.

**4. Prepare the prompt and source material**

In the editor, complete **Question Title** and organize the content needed to answer.

| Block or field | Possible use |
| - | - |
| **Topic** | Organize part of the content with a heading. |
| **Text** | Present information, context or written guidance. |
| **Video** | Present a sign language prompt or material for comprehension. |
| **Image** | Add a visual reference needed for analysis. |

A question can combine source material with several related statements. For example: **“Watch the narrative and classify the statements below.”**

Upload or record video according to available options. Check **Display video only once**. Enable the restriction only if it is part of the task and explain it in the instructions.

**5. Register statements and select True or False**

Under **Answers**, prepare each card. Although the form calls it an “Answer”, here it contains the **statement the participant will classify**.

![Statement card with text, video, True/False answer key and percentage.](https://mintcdn.com/levante-lab/5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR/images/image-37.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR\&q=85\&s=cd7d117f3e75d0de6d0c1252f6839a06)

| Control | What to enter or check |
| - | - |
| **Answer text** | Write the statement when using written content. The field is optional in the examples. |
| **Video Content** | Add the video corresponding to the statement using the upload or recording options. |
| **True** | Select when the statement agrees with the source material. |
| **False** | Select when the statement does not agree with the source material. |
| **Percentage of this answer** | Check the value assigned to the item when available. |
| **Add new answer** | Add another statement to the same question. |
| **Trash icon** | Remove a card you will not use. |

**The Supervisor’s True/False selection is the item’s answer key.** It is not a participant’s response.

After adding each statement, review its content and select the expected classification. Do not assume the form’s initial selection is correct for every item.

For video statements, check clarity of signing and the match between the video and the selected answer key.

**6. Check scoring distribution**

The examples offer **Evenly distribute** and **Manual distribution** for item scoring.

![Equal and manual distribution options for statement scoring.](https://mintcdn.com/levante-lab/5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR/images/image-40.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR\&q=85\&s=536c814bf35a0876a1c09689ff531cbb)

| Option | What to observe |
| - | - |
| **Equal** | Check automatic distribution among registered items. |
| **Manual** | Review each item’s percentage and the intended question composition. |

![Example of percentage settings for items within a question.](https://mintcdn.com/levante-lab/5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR/images/image-39.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR\&q=85\&s=d1208408dc309d2eb539ccc51f6c1492)

Review distribution after adding or removing statements. Mockup values are examples and should not be copied without checking the full set.

Statement scoring differs from the **question’s weight in the activity**, the **scale** and the **activity’s weight in the Space**.

**7. Prepare feedback for correct and incorrect responses**

Use **Add feedback**. The example shows two areas:

![Separate feedback areas for correct and incorrect responses.](https://mintcdn.com/levante-lab/5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR/images/image-41.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5Ld6kmh-guGtkKtR\&q=85\&s=a7ed120599b243b042e7c4892de3a275)

| Area | How to use it |
| - | - |
| **Feedback - Correct** | Prepare an explanation for a correct response that reinforces understanding. |
| **Feedback - Incorrect** | Guide content review and indicate what to observe again. |

The illustrated form supports video, image and text according to each area’s controls. Video also offers optional **.vtt** subtitles and markers.

**“Correct” and “Incorrect” are not synonyms for “True” and “False”.** A participant can be correct when classifying a statement as False, or incorrect when classifying it as True.

For example:

* **For a correct response:** “You identified the information in the narrative. Observe how the journey is described in the video.”
* **For an incorrect response:** “Review the passage showing how the person arrived at university and compare it with the statement.”

The displayed feedback refers to the question; do not assume an independent response for each statement card.

After reviewing the prompt, materials, answer key, percentages and feedback, select **Done** to return to the summary. Repeat to include further questions.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Check the size limit in the video field you use. Prompt and statement examples show **100 MB**; instructions, introduction, feedback and self-assessment show **250 MB**. The **IntSL Video** label belongs to the illustrated installation: use the sign language appropriate to your audience.

## Configure assessment

From the summary, select **Evaluation Settings**. Align the options with the learning objective and completion conditions.

### Scoring and attempts

![Shared scoring and attempt configuration fields.](https://mintcdn.com/levante-lab/M4Lw-zsgT4eCAFIt/images/image-29.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=M4Lw-zsgT4eCAFIt\&q=85\&s=a4a848ab11250c48da9fa5a188a79b79)

| Field | What to check |
| - | - |
| **Scale** | How results will be presented. |
| **Question weights** | Equal or manual distribution. Question weights must total **100%**. |
| **Grade to pass** | The activity’s passing threshold. |
| **Max grade** | The maximum assessment reference value. |
| **Attempts** | How many attempts are permitted. |

In the three-question example, **33.33% + 33.33% + 33.34% = 100%**. These are question weights, not True/False answer keys or percentages of items within a question.

### Navigation and duration

![Question and answer order options and attempt duration.](https://mintcdn.com/levante-lab/M4Lw-zsgT4eCAFIt/images/image-30.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=M4Lw-zsgT4eCAFIt\&q=85\&s=3f6dba7413a7532171435a62365b5e5d)

| Field | What to check |
| - | - |
| **Order of questions** | Ordered or free navigation and randomized presentation options. |
| **Order of answers** | Registered or random item order, depending on available options. |
| **Time for completion** | The permitted attempt duration. |
| **When time expires** | What happens when the attempt reaches its time limit. |

Check whether the selected option allows freely switching questions or requires following the sequence. When setting time, also check whether the attempt is submitted automatically, can be submitted without new answers or must be submitted before expiry to count.

### Review and availability

![Review options, final summary and availability dates.](https://mintcdn.com/levante-lab/M4Lw-zsgT4eCAFIt/images/image-31.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=M4Lw-zsgT4eCAFIt\&q=85\&s=b113ba892af6a1f2f3ae55ee69a7c4bf)

| Field | What to check |
| - | - |
| **Review options** | When assessment information can be viewed: during an attempt, after submission or by manual release, depending on the available option. |
| **Final summary** | Whether question titles and answered/unanswered statuses will be shown. |
| **Start and close dates** | The period during which the activity can be completed. |
| **Additional criteria, when shown** | Their purpose and relevance, without replacing item answer keys. |

The availability period differs from an attempt’s duration. Displaying an answered-question summary is also different from releasing grades and the answer key.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Automatic marking does not mean immediate release.** Marking uses the registered True/False answer key; information visibility follows the review options. With **manual release**, the Supervisor must release results.

## Include self-assessment if desired

In **Questions Summary**, **Self-assessment questions** has its own **Add Question** button.

![Self-assessment questions section with the Add Question button.](https://mintcdn.com/levante-lab/mbIppj3dcMASJZrm/images/image-42.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=mbIppj3dcMASJZrm\&q=85\&s=8b8eecd6614896ef3630879534920e3e)

Choose the self-assessment scale, enter the question and, when appropriate, add a video in the corresponding sign language.

![List of registered self-assessment questions and the Add New Question button.](https://mintcdn.com/levante-lab/mbIppj3dcMASJZrm/images/image-43.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=mbIppj3dcMASJZrm\&q=85\&s=a4fdf1594bdf2ed59deff865b4716c88)

A possible question is: **“How do you assess your understanding of the information needed to classify the statements?”**

The provided screens show saving variations: one includes **Save** in the form, while others show **Done** at the top. Follow the controls in your installation, confirm setup and check that the question appears in the list when returning to the summary.

These questions support reflection on learning. They differ from statements with answer keys for automatic marking; do not assume they contribute to the main grade in the same way.

## Review, edit and finish

In the completed summary, check **Activity questions** and **Self-assessment questions** separately. Use each item’s controls to access available options and review the content after any edit.

Before finishing:

* Check the name, instructions, Space and status.
* Review the source material and clarity of each statement.
* Play the videos and check playback restrictions.
* Check **each item’s True/False answer key**.
* Check item scoring and, separately, question weights.
* Review feedback for correct and incorrect responses.
* Check attempts, navigation, duration, dates and review options.
* Check self-assessment questions, if used.

**Finishing a question does not finish the entire activity.** Return to the summary, review the full set and complete setup using the displayed controls.

> **[See how participants view results](/en/visual-classroom/participant/results)**
