# Start creating
> Choose a category and subcategory to start creating a VisuoLab resource.
The **Resource Creator** lets you publish materials in the VisuoLab Portal. Start by choosing one of four categories and, when available, a subcategory that represents the content.
## Start a new resource
In **My Resources**, use **Publish new resource**. In the English interface, this action appears as **Create resource** in the **Create new resource** card.
The **What do you want to create?** screen shows the four categories:
The screenshots show an account with administrative options. The **ID / Edit banner** strip is for interface administration and is not part of choosing a category.
## Choose a category and subcategory
Select the category that best represents your material. If subcategories are displayed, choose one. Expand the sections below to explore the options shown.
For literary, academic and educational materials. After selecting **Library Resource**, choose a subcategory:

| **Education** | Education | Educational content. |
This category brings together linguistic resources and materials related to sign languages, according to the installation’s organization. The screenshot shows:

| **Corpus** | Corpus | Collections of linguistic records. |
| **Signbank** | Signbank | Resources related to sign databases. |
| **Grammar** | Grammar | Materials about grammatical aspects. |
| **Sign Language Teaching** | SL Teaching | Content for teaching sign languages. |
| **Glossary** | Glossary | Collections of terms and signs. |
| **Anthology** | Anthology | Selected works or productions gathered in a collection. |
Choose **Research Projects** for a resource related to a research project.
The screenshot shows only the category selection. If your installation offers subcategories, choose the appropriate available option.
Choose **Courses** for resources classified as courses. The subcategories organize courses by area or level:

**IntSL** identifies the option related to international signing.
## Check your selection
The selected category is **highlighted in blue**. Check that it matches the content you want to publish and choose a subcategory when requested.
The **category** indicates where the material will be organized. The **publication type** indicates how it will be presented — for example, a file, link or V-Book.
Categories, subcategories and control names may vary by installation. Use the options shown in your interface. A resource’s classification does not determine the interface language or, by itself, the content’s sign language.
## Continue creating
After choosing the classification, continue with the steps for the available publication type. Tutorials for **publishing files**, **publishing links**, **creating V-Books** and **reviewing and publishing** will be provided on separate pages in this group.
To find materials in preparation or submitted for review, open **My Resources → Draft**.
